Activity and Activism

Atonement puts survivors in touch with resources, organisations and personnel that can offer constructive help and support as they seek to recover from the trauma of their original abuse.  We work for truth and justice, knowing that churches will often refuse to face their complicity and collusion in the original acts of abuse.

Cultures of denial have been and remain another form of abuse. Atonement seeks to call out all the poor, opaque and unjust systems of investigation and redress so often perpetrated by churches. We seek to realign the churches with basic principles and standards in public life: transparency, accountability, fairness, integrity, justice, truth and humility.

We oppose the proud and powerful, and work to raise up the fallen and crushed.
