Many people who suffer abuse at the hands of the church find that they hit a wall of silence and shame when they first speak out. They can lose friendships and family.  Abuse impacts every aspect of a victims’ life: trust, confidence, relationships, home and work.

Many who have been abused fall apart on the inside, and they find that they can no longer work. Isolated and stigmatised, those abused carry long term injury which can become worse over time than the original abuse perpetrated.

Victims of abuse who speak out can sometimes be cast adrift by friends, family, fellowships and churches. Atonement offers a network of support to those who have nowhere else to turn.
